Because I can’t help myself.

Everybody needs a side project. Here are a few of the things I do to keep sane and stay creative.

Thread Painting

This artwork, which hangs on my wall, is based on a topographical map of my old SF neighborhood, Bernal Heights. I made it by winding colored thread around hundreds of nails.

Octopus Lamp

I've always enjoyed the geometrical puzzle of a clever flat-pack product design. I wanted to create a flat-pack object where the tabs were more than just functional, but part of the form itself. This octopus is built from eight laser-cut vellum pieces, using the tabs to create the suction cups on its tentacles and the ridges of its head..

Folding Typography Advent Calendar

For this Advent calendar, each “door” actually creates the number for that day when you open it.

I created a typeface of numerals that is made to be cut into paper and folded to complete the forms.
